Speaker Johnson Accuses Biden of Cover-Up of Hunter’s Business Dealings
As the House Democrats’ impeachment probe continues into the activities of President Trump, Washington D.C. is abuzz with news that Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, and other Republicans are now accusing former Vice President Joe Biden of engaging in an intentional cover-up of his son’s business dealings in Ukraine.
In a speech on the House floor Wednesday, Speaker Johnson suggested that the former Vice President was attempting to avoid scrutiny by trying to keep the details of Hunter Biden’s business dealings in the Ukraine under wraps. Speaker Johnson went on to argue that the failure to provide a full accounting of the events leading up to the impeachment probe, and Hunter Biden’s involvement in that, is creating a suspicion of impropriety.
The allegations, which were made in the form of a speech rather than an official statement, sent shockwaves through Washington as speculation continues to swirl about how the Biden family may be connected to the Ukraine/President Trump controversy.
The Biden family has pushed back against the allegations and said they have done nothing wrong. Hunter Biden released a statement stating that he “made no money off of any deal I made with Ukraine,” and that his business activities in the country were entirely above board.
However, Speaker Johnson has consistently called for a full investigation into the Biden family’s dealings in the Ukraine, and has recently called on the House Democrats’ impeachment probe to also look into Joe Biden’s role in the scandal.
The allegations against former Vice President Joe Biden come at a difficult time for the Biden family, who is already working to make it through the 2020 presidential primary elections. With widespread speculation of an impeached President Trump, the House Democrats impeachment probe has now put the Biden family at the center of a national conversation about their role in the controversy.
Speaker Johnson’s accusations against Joe Biden have generated sharp criticism from both sides of the aisle. It remains to be seen how these new developments will impact the course of the House Democrats’ impeachment probe and the 2020 presidential election.
