The Biden campaign is facing an increasingly serious polling crisis in the lead-up to the upcoming election. The Presidential hopeful has seen his lead in the polls diminish significantly over the last month and signs have begun to point to a shakeup in the campaign’s staff. To make matters worse, Biden has also faced bipartisan condemnation from high-profile politicians including Republican Senator Rand Paul.
When recently asked about the possible staff shakeup, Biden’s press secretary and close advisor Jean Pierre gave a terse response. “We don’t comment on internal staffing decisions and out of respect for the process, we’re not going to speculate on who might be in, or out,” he said.
This response has only raised further concern among Biden’s supporters and has led to speculation on who might be chosen to fill the roles. Some of the names mentioned include former Obama adviser David Axelrod and Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook. It is unclear if these two will be appointed but some political analysts believe that the campaign needs new blood and fresh ideas to overcome the current polling crisis.
Either way, the Biden team is well aware of this period as a make or break moment for the election. Though Pierre’s response was short on specifics, it’s clear that Biden and his campaign are contemplating difficult decisions and working hard to regain their momentum.
