On Friday evening, a knife and hammer attack took place near the Eiffel Tower in Paris, resulting in one death and two severe injuries.
At about 5 pm local time, bystanders discovered a man with a knife and a hammer attacking two individuals on the Champ de Mars near the Eiffel Tower. After multiple witnesses called for help, the French police rushed to the scene. Upon arriving, they quickly apprehended the male assailant and seized two weapons.
Tragically, one of the victims succumbed to his deadly wounds and died shortly after the incident. Meanwhile, two other victims were rushed to a nearby hospital. According to the preliminary medical reports, one of the victims sustained a broken arm, while the other one has serious damage to their neck and head. Both victims are still in critical but stable condition.
Currently, the police have yet to identify the attacker, although the investigation has revealed that the incident was an “act of personal hatred”. The authorities also believe that the perpetrator acted alone.
While the French police have done an incredible job in a timely manner, the area remains on high alert. One police officer commented, “We are doing everything we can to ensure that our citizens remain safe.”
This incident happened in one of the largest and most tourist-dense cities in the world. Although it is a very sad event, the people of Paris continue to remain vigilant and strong.
