When it comes to the modern approval ratings of Presidents, a new survey by Gallup confirms what many already knew: Joe Biden is performing dismal in the polls.
Since taking office, Biden has been consistently below the approval ratings of former U.S. Presidents Barack Obama, Jimmy Carter, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Richard Nixon. At the time of Gallup’s study, Biden had only a 48% favorable rating, the lowest of the five.
To no one’s surprise, President Trump had the lowest approval rating at 44%. However, he gets some historical recognition for being the only other modern President to not reach a 50% approval rating.
Biden’s approval rating is about average for modern Presidents this early in their first term. It’s also in line with those of George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan. However, the fact that Biden is rated lower than Obama and Carter speaks significant volumes. It’s proof that Biden’s presidency is far from the statistically impressive one that many Obama enthusiasts were hoping for.
Gallup’s survey also revealed that Biden’s approval rating was lowest among Republican respondents and highest among Democratic and Independent ones. Liberal voters appear to recognize Biden’s history of dedication to the progressive ideals that propelled him into the White House.
In many ways, Biden’s approval rating is a testament to the unique and divided political environment that is currently present in the United States. Although the President is doing his best to change this, many Americans still find themselves attached to the ideals of their respective political parties.
While a general 48% approval rating from Gallup is far from ideal, it’s far better than what Biden’s predecessor had to contend with. Trump ended his term with a staggering 73% disapproval rating. This stark difference serves as evidence that states are recognizing Biden’s liberal good-willed objectives since assuming office.
When compared to the approval rating of other modern Presidents, Joe Biden may not be knocking it out of the park, but he’s certainly faring better than many Americans had earlier expected. As the President continues to make decisions with the United States in mind, his approval rating is sure to climb substantially in the coming months.
