A powerful testament to the unique strength of the bond between Israel and the United States came this week when Congressman Roger Goldman and his family took shelter during a Hamas rocket attack while in Israel for their son’s Bar Mitzvah.
The Goldman family had arrived in the Jewish homeland to celebrate the life of Judah Goldman, culminating in a Bar Mitzvah ceremony at the Western Wall on Tuesday. However, their festivities were interrupted when Hamas fired off several rockets towards the country’s south region.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported following the attack, and the Goldman family escaped unscathed.
Speaking with the press afterwards, Rep. Goldman praised the heroism of the Israeli people and stated that despite the turbulent times, the occasion of the Bar Mitzvah was one of joy and celebration.
“What happened here today was a reminder of how strong and resilient the Israeli people are,” Goldman stated. “In the face of violence and distress, they remain strong and determined to pursue peace and justice.”
The congressman also expressed his appreciation for the assistance offered by the members of the Knesset who made sure the Goldman family was safe throughout the duration of the rocket attack.
The story of Roger Goldman and his family serves as a reminder that during times of conflict, there will always be events that bring people together, and the strength of the relationship between Israel and the United States will never be broken.
