Hunter Biden, son of former Vice President Joe Biden, is reportedly eager to answer questions related to an ongoing tax investigation into his finances.
According to a lawyer for the Biden family, Robert Luskin, Hunter Biden is willing to testify in a public forum “without condition” after being subpoenaed in December by a federal judge.
The subpoena was related to an investigation by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York into Hunter Biden’s finances. Previously, a criminal probe into the matter was dropped after no evidence of wrongdoing was found.
However, the matter remains unresolved and Hunter Biden has yet to answer questions about his actions. Luskin stated that the Biden family’s goal is to “address any remaining questions as quickly as possible.”
In response to the news, U.S. Senator Charles Comer said that, if Hunter Biden is indeed willing to testify in a public forum, then he should be allowed to do so. “We should all be given the full facts in this matter so that we can discern why this investigation was opened in the first place,” he said.
At this point, it remains unclear when and where Hunter Biden will be allowed to answer questions.
This matter is of particular political import, considering the potential implications for Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential campaign. His opponents have already sought to use the issue against him, saying that the Biden family’s actions should be of grave concern.
In the meantime, Hunter Biden has kept a low profile, though he was recently spotted walking in a park in Los Angeles with his new wife.
It remains to be seen whether the Biden family will get the chance to answer questions about the matter in a public setting. Until then, their lawyer insists that they are “committed to resolving this investigation as expeditiously as possible.”
